Background: Associated with obesity, weight loss also increased significantly during the past two decades, which is one of the most common disorders. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of 4weeks of resistance training combined with alfalfa extract on Cathepsin S and cystatin C in weight loosed Girls. Methods: This study was conducted on 28 adolescent girls with weight loss. They were randomly divided into four groups (each group, n = 7): control, Training, Training- Alfalfa, Alfalfa. Resistance exercise training protocol consisted of 4 weeks and 3days per week with 60% of one repetition maximum (1RM) at the beginning and 80% of 1RM at the end. Alfalfa groups consumed Alfalfa extract 1cc (per kg body weight) and blood samples were taken before and after 4weeks of the study. Results: The main finding of the current research was a lower cathepsin S and cyctatin C after 4 week training in Training group (p = 0/001) (p = 0/000), Training- alfalfa (p = 0/000)(p = 0/000) and Alfalfa group (p = 0 / 001)(p = 0/001) but in control group (p = 0/747)(0/679) there was not significant decrease. Conclusion: This study shows that 4weeks resistance training combined with alfalfa extract increased weight, decreased levels of cathepsin S and cystatin C, which will ultimately result in improved body composition.
